Melbourne network, one of our clients is looking for a Senior Database Optimisation Admin on a permanent basis. You must be based in Melbourne for this role and be willing to work in flexible/hybrid environment.
You will be the first internal hire into this team and be responsible for developing and maintaining primarily Oracle Databases. This will include ensuring data security, tuning performance, backing up data, and providing training and support to users. You will also be responsible for addressing all allocated 2nd and 3rd Level Service Calls, System Incidents, Change Requests and Work Orders.

The Role & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud and on-premise infrastructure database instances.
- Administration of the Oracle stack 12c + 19c (OVM, ORL, Exadata, WebLogic and Oracle DBs)
- Addressing all allocated 2nd and 3rd Level Service Calls, System Incidents, Change Requests and Work Orders delegated from the IT Service Desk and IT reporting Managers.
- Build high availability database systems
- Define users and enable data distribution to the right user
- Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
- Minimise downtime and manage the parameters to provide fast query responses
- Determine, enforce and document the database policies, procedures and standards
- Perform evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
- Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions
- Serve as the technical point of contact for all aspects of the company’s Database infrastructure
- Implement and maintain infrastructure policies, standards, and standard operating procedures that are compliant and secure
- Monitor and analyse system performance, security vulnerabilities, and capacity planning
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and solutions
About you:
- Proven experience administering, configuring and managing large database environments
- Extensive experience working with Oracle 12c+19c.
- Ideally have experience in IBM Db2, or a willing to learning.
- Knowledge of Cloud and Network architectures, technologies and topologies
- Proven experience working in an IT Service Management capacity, with ITIL service management knowledge and experience, ITIL V4 preferred
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Proven ability to prioritise and plan, making insightful recommendations with an enterprise-wide consideration for technology and business needs
