Event wrap: DesignOps meetup

Oh boy. What a bad day to be a bacon and egg roll from the Cheeky Monkey Cafe.

And by that we mean, last night’s meetup wasn’t just epicโ€”it was Point Break epic. ๐Ÿ„โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

You know what they say: What happens at the DesignOps meetup, doesn’t stay at the DesignOps meetup. So, allow us to paint a picture. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽจ

Like all great gatherings, it went down at Propel Ventures. Like 90s Keanu hair, we were wild, free, and defying all the rules. No sooner had our pizza-to-beer ratio reached critical mass, our special guests took the stage. ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿบ

Enter Tim Kotsiakos and Ben Beagley from MASS. Fun fact: Tim last spoke at DesignOps in 2018. Last night, we found out what MASS has been up to in the years since, plus a recap of those early days. It was a walk through their greatest hits, showcasing the incredible work they’ve done in the creative/art space. ๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ

The standout? Their ‘Artificial Futures’ project for Melbourne Design Week. A website that turns your words into AI art. It’s not just about cool pics thoughโ€”it’s asking the big question: What world do we want AI to help us design? ๐Ÿง โš™๏ธ (If you missed the project, take a look. We’ve popped a link in comments. ๐Ÿ‘€)

Then, as tradition dictates, we took our newly expanded minds to the Cherry Tree Hotel to wrap up the evening. Which reminds usโ€”whose turn is it to grab the rolls? ๐Ÿฅฏ๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿณ

Huge thanks all round: to Propel, Tim and Ben, hosts Sam Bowring and Ch’an Armstrong, and the design community who showed up in force. Until next time, Rebels! ๐ŸŽ‰
